SOCIAL worker Marlyn received a message that a 14-year-old girl named “Princess” had been trafficked and sold to a sex bar here in the Philippines. Marlyn alerted me and we began planning to rescue the child, just one of thousands of children trafficked for sexual abuse each year in the Philippines and many more around the world.
A recent article in the International New York Times (December 2, 2013) revealed that the US can learn something from the Philippines in the training of skilled workers. Written by Nelson Schwartz, the article was entitled “Latest German Model: Apprenticeships.”
WE have to learn how to cruise the digital world. It’s practically part of everyone’s life now, offering a lot of good but also a lot of dangers. We should know how to make use of it without compromising our dignity as persons and children of God.
